Tape Art Mural & Workshop

This December, downtown Mobile will welcome Tape Art artists Michael Townsend and Leah Smith to create a massive work of art on the outside of the Temple Downtown. Tape Art is an evolving group of public artists who create large-scale temporary drawings and installations out of low-adhesive tape.

Over the last 33 years, Tape Art has created over 500 large murals (approx. 40ft x 40ft or larger) and thousands of smaller drawings on walls around the globe. Tape Art‘s extensive teaching practice has resulted in the introduction of tape drawing to over 50,000 first-time users in a wide range of institutions, including: schools, community centers, elderly homes, hospitals, psych wards, and prisons. While in Mobile, they will be filming a documentary about this impactful work.

Learn more about Tape Art during a free Artist Talk and Demonstration on Wednesday, December 7th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Temple Downtown. All are welcome to attend this workshop sponsored by the Mobile Arts Council. Please register before the event day online using the linked button below!

How does a young artist get the opportunity to sell her artwork in the square? Is there a booth fee?
