Fairhope’s Bay Shore Ballet Theatre returns to the stage this December with its highly acclaimed performances of “The Nutcracker,” to be presented at the Fairhope Civic Center on Saturday, Dec. 14th at 2:00 P.M. and 7:15 P.M., and on Sunday, December 15th at 3:00 P.M. Janet Carole, artistic director and formerly a leading ballerina with major U.S. professional ballet companies, has restaged this legendary classic for more than 60 talented dancers from many of the surrounding East Bay communities. Zachariah Woods will dance the leading role of the “Nutcracker Prince” alternately with Bay Shore Ballet Principal dancers, Claire Kiernan and Beth Claunch dancing as the Sugar Plum Fairy. Principal dancers Emily Taylor and Mary Ford are highlighted alternately as the Rose Queen in the elaborate Waltz of the Flowers. Featured soloists Ella Williams, Ella Pursley, and Georgia Byrd bring to life the mechanical dolls and fairy tale character of Little Bo Peep in Act II. The production features the much-loved score of Peter Tchaikovsky, and incorporates elegant sets and scenery by master scenic artist and designer, William Loyed. Tickets are now on sale at www.bayshoreballet.com, Page and Palette Bookstore at 32 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL, and on sale at the door prior to the performances.
