Inner Transcendence

Dates: July 1-31, 2017
Painting by Lisa Hancock

Artist Lisa Hancock’s exhibit in the Danielle Juzan Gallery is an exploration of the boundaries – and lack thereof – between ourselves and our environment. In serene, ethereal layers of watercolor, Hancock seeks to bring awareness to our own ability to foster the growth and development of ecosystems. In her own words, “nature has a transcendental quality, and I strive to illustrate this inner connection between man and surroundings”. Hancock received her BFA from the University of Alabama and got her MFA in painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006. She has participated in numerous juried and solo shows and has exhibited her work at the Mobile Museum of Art. Most recently, you may remember her as the champion of the first annual LoDa Squares sidewalk chalk art competition at SouthSounds in 2016. She lives and works in Mobile in the company of her husband and two children. Hancock’s exhibition will be on display through Friday, July 28. Meet the artist during ArtWalk on Friday, July 14 (6 – 9 PM)!
