The Mobile Arts Council is accepting entries to the Visual Arts Achievement Program on February 3rd and 4th at the Gallery, Room 1927. This arts education program is an opportunity for students in grades 6 through 12 to be recognized for their contributions to the visual arts at the local and state levels. Concurrently, Young at Art is for 5th grade students and below. The District 1 juried exhibition will hang from February 5th to March 1st, ending with a reception in the gallery from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

District 1 includes Baldwin, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe, and Washington counties. Every student who receives a District Award will be recognized at the State Awards Ceremony, held by the Alabama State Council on the Arts at 1:00 p.m. on the last Friday in April in Montgomery. Entries must be made through the students’ school. Private studios are not eligible to submit work. Entry categories include painting, drawing, mixed media, 3-D/craft, photography, printmaking, and computer images.
