March Artist Member of the Month
Congratulations to our March Artist Member of the Month, Bob Halcombe!
Robert A. Halcombe Jr. has been creating art since the age of 14, building an accomplished career early on with multiple first-place awards in San Diego, including the Clairemont Centennial Contest, the Museum of Man Art Contest, and back-to-back wins at Cabrillo National Monument.
He has worked as a paint and airbrush artist for Robert Keith and Company. Contributing to inflatables for the entertainment industry, including “OTTO” from Airplane and created artwork for KYXY 96 FM. Bob also studied at Spanish Village in Balboa Park under renowned Southwestern artist Loretta McLoud and was a member of the Julian Art Guild.
In addition to his artistic work, Bob became an Aerospace Design Engineer. He now resides in Mobile, Alabama, where he is finishing his career as a cabin integrator for the Airbus A220.
Bob works in pastels on velour, often depicting animals, as well as oils on canvas, exploring florals, landscapes, seascapes, and portraiture. For him, the joy of art lies in the emotional connection it creates with viewers. Bringing focus back onto his artistic endeavors, he is one of three artists currently on display at the Vets Recover facility on Spring Hill Avenue. This new residency program brings local artwork into spaces where veterans are receiving care and support. Bob’s talent for depicting machinery and scenes of service brings a strong sense of pride and inspiration.
Thank you, Bob, for all you contribute to our community.
