December Artist Member of the Month

Congratulations to our December Artist Member of the Month, Annieo Klaas!

Annieo Klaas- Paintings, an oil painter with a keen eye for overlooked beauty, is December’s Artist of the Month. Originally from Dakar, Senegal, Annieo’s creative journey led her to Seattle, Washington, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornish College of the Arts in 2015. Her work captures the quiet elegance in the everyday—the unnoticed moments in the world around us. From the iridescent rainbows in an oily puddle to the unexpected textures of mold growing on cement, Klaas’s paintings reveal a new perspective on the familiar.

Klaas’s artwork is a visual exploration of beauty in the seemingly mundane, celebrating the transient and often unnoticed wonders of life. Her work has earned a place in notable collections, including the Fred Hutch Cornish Collection in Seattle and private collections across the US and Senegal.

A pivotal moment in Klaas’s career came in 2015 when she was commissioned as part of a team to create a permanent outdoor mural for InCity Properties’ “The Local” at 422 Summit Ave E in Seattle. Since then, her art has continued to evolve and make its mark, both in group and solo exhibitions. Notable exhibitions include “Government Plaza Gallery: “A CELEBRATION,” juried by the Mobile Museum of Art in Mobile, AL, and “Made in Alabama,” part of the Alabama Visual Artists Network Invitational Exhibition at Samford Art Gallery in Birmingham, AL, both in 2024. She will also showcase a solo exhibition, “When the Sky Looks In,” curated by Lucy Gafford for the Mobile Arts Council in 2024.

In 2016, Klaas presented “Memory Cloth,” a solo exhibition curated by Sierra Stinson and Serrah Russel at Vignettes Weekender in Seattle. Her artistic journey has taken her from Seattle to Mobile, AL, where she is currently based.

Annieo Klaas’s art invites us to see the world in a new light—through the quiet, often hidden, beauty that surrounds us every day.
