The University of South Alabama’s ceramics and glass programs are teaming up to make bowls to help the homeless. On October 26th from 12:00 – 4:00 pm, we are opening our doors to the public, and producing handmade ceramic and glass bowls to donate to Artsoup, a fundraiser to benefit local services for the homeless. Anyone can attend these live demonstrations, and make a fused glass or ceramic bowl to donate. We are located in the Visual Art department’s complex, at 399 N University Blvd, Mobile, AL 36608.
Every year, local artists have produced between 200-500 bowls for the Artsoup event. “We regard making these bowls as a service learning activity: putting our artistic skills into practice to benefit those in need. The Bowl-a-thon is to help raise awareness within the community for this worthy cause,” Professor Tony Wright said.
