The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Library is now hosting an art exhibition The Gulf of America by award-winning Bay St. Louis artist Herb Willey. On view until November 22, 2018, are 60 original transparent watercolor paintings set on the Gulf Coast. This exhibition is based on Herb’s project titled “Along Beach Boulevard,” depicting everyday scenes along Mississippi’s Highway 90. Now he has expanded his scope to picture equally inspiring images from the coasts of Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana as well. He is constantly looking for ordinary people in ordinary locations to create stories. The Gulf Coast Library will hold a reception on October 18, 2018, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Both the local residents and members of the Southern Miss university community are invited to meet the artist and view and purchase his beautiful coastal themed paintings.
