Join South Mobile County Arts Council for an Evening of Art, Music, and Community to Support SMCAC’s Free Art Classes for Local Children and Seniors!
South Mobile County Arts Council (formerly DIHAC) is delighted to announce “Corks for a Cause,” a special fundraising event supporting our free arts programs, including their Children’s Art After School program and the senior arts initiative, Our Time. These programs create meaningful opportunities for creative expression, connection, and lifelong learning for art lovers of all ages.
This fundraiser is central to their mission of serving South Mobile County by providing opportunities for education, appreciation, expression, and participation in the arts for all ages. Through free art classes for local children in kindergarten through fifth grade and seniors ages 65 and older, they strive to make the arts accessible to everyone. SMCAC believes art is transformative—it inspires confidence, fosters connection and community, and has the power to spark real, lasting change.
As they expand our service area and transition from the Dauphin Island Heritage and Arts Council to the broader South Mobile County Arts Council, community support is more important than ever to ensure these programs not only continue, but blossom.
The fundraiser will take place on Thursday, April 30th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Carriage, located at 1522 Bienville Blvd, Dauphin Island, AL.
For $35 per person, attendees can enjoy delicious small bites, a cash bar, live music, and breathtaking sunset views from the venue’s deck—all while supporting accessible arts programming in our community. The evening will also feature a silent auction showcasing original artwork, offering guests the chance to take home unique pieces while contributing to a meaningful cause.
Tickets are limited, so its encouraged that you to reserve your spot soon and join them in sustaining and expanding free arts opportunities across South Mobile County. Tickets can be purchased on their website and Facebook page.
All funds raised from Corks for a Cause directly support programs like their Senior Art Classes and Art After School. Led by professional artist Carolyn Greene, our senior classes provide active adults 65+ with a welcoming space for creativity, connection, and self-expression through mediums like watercolor and acrylic. At the same time, our Art After School program sparks creativity in children, encouraging imagination and artistic growth through hands-on projects in a fun, engaging environment.
With small class sizes capped at 8-10 students, each participant receives personalized guidance in a supportive setting—ensuring these programs remain impactful, accessible, and deeply rooted in community connection.
This event is generously hosted by The Carriage: Dauphin Island.
