While many of you have come to expect exhibition openings during Artwalk, an extra one has been added this month! Join us on September 30th to celebrate the opening of Vengo de una isla de confusión, with a special talk and gallery tour given by the artist herself, Elsa María Meléndez, at 6 p.m.
This exhibition of new and existing work explores the intersection of political and personal identity. Through large-scale fabric constructions, as well as small-scale dioramas the artist calls “theaters”, Meléndez creates narrative spaces that document the uncertainty one experiences while living in Puerto Rico, an “Island of Confusion.”
