Mobile Opera has invited us once more to sketch during their dress rehearsal of their upcoming production of Puccini’s Il Tabarro! Il Tabarro (The Cloak) is the dark drama of Puccini’s trilogy that includes Gianni Schicchi (2016) and Suor Angelica (2017). Sonorous music sets the stage for suspicion, jealousy and murder as only the master, Puccini, can.
While the rehearsal is in progress, we may not take photos and must remain seated until a break. Seating will be addressed as you arrive but every seat in their venue (The Temple Downtown) is much closer than at the Civic Center Theater. Because the house lights will be off during the rehearsal, you may use a battery-powered book light, but you must furnish it yourself. We will have some lights on hand just in case!
This event is free and only open to those who participate in sketching the event. If you would be open to donating (or making prints of) any of your sketches to the performers, they would be delighted to have them.
Please RSVP to Lucy Gafford (lgafford@mobilearts.org) by Tuesday, March 19 to guarantee a spot. There are only 20 slots available, so be quick!
