In April, Mobile Symphony Orchestra will present some of the greatest movie music ever composed, featuring masterpieces from the 20th and 21st centuries. From the silver screen to the symphonic stage, the MSO takes a hair-raising journey through the film scores that have shaped cinematic history.

The program features composers from the Golden Age of Hollywood, including Erich Wolfgang Korngold (The Sea Hawk) and Bernard Herrmann (Psycho and Vertigo). They’ll then explore the music of more recent music geniuses, including Maurice Jarre (Doctor Zhivago), Ennio Morricone (The Mission and Cinema Paradiso), John Barry (Out of Africa), Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future), Danny Elfman (Beetlejuice), Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek: First Contact), and of course the immortal John Williams (Close Encounters of the Third Kind).

At the MSO, they believe that great movie music is simply great music — and it deserves to be heard in all its glory. This concert demonstrates why these scores resonate with audiences worldwide, capturing the imagination and emotion of generations.
