A Local Jazz Connection MOJO (Mystic Order of Jazz Obsessed) and the Mobile Public Library invite you to a screening of the film, Thunder Soul. The director of a high-school jazz ensemble from Houston called the Kashmere Stage Band is honored during a musical performance by his former students. The movie runs 83 minutes and is rated PG. For more information, please call 208-7097. In 1972, the band was invited to the Mobile Jazz Festival to compete for a national championship. J. C. McAleer III, a MJF founder and the 2018 MOJO Jazzalea Award winner, is interviewed in the Thunder Soul music documentary, explaining the Festival judges’ challenges to making their final decision at the American High School Stage Band Festival in Mobile.
