Perfect Time to Join the Friends of the Mobile Public Library

The 2019 Friends Annual Meeting begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m. with guest speaker, Dr. Wayne Flynt’s presentation on “Pulitzers and Politics: The Best and Worst of Alabama History” beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Dr. Flynt is Professor Emeritus in the Department of History at Auburn and an award-winning author of 13 books, including Poor But Proud: Alabama’s Poor Whites, Alabama in the Twentieth Century and Mockingbird Songs: My Friendship with Harper Lee. His research focuses on Southern culture, Alabama politics, Southern religion, education reform, and poverty. In 1993 he was the subject of an Alabama Public Television documentary.

Books will be provided for sale; checks and cash only.

Memberships are required and can be purchased at the door. Memberships range from $30 for individual/family to $500 for a partner. Since the Friends is a 501© (3) nonprofit organization, memberships are tax deductible.
