Step into an afternoon of style and tradition at Mobile Museum of Art for the Hatitude Tea Party. Inspired by the special exhibition Timeless Hats, this gathering honors self-taught Mobile milliner Susie Mae Pugh-Williams (1949 – 2020). Her handcrafted hats, wraps, and fascinators are more than accessories — they are “crowns” that embody a rich heritage of artistry and resilience.

Enjoy tea, light refreshments, and the graceful sounds of a live harpist. You’ll have time to explore the exhibition and reflect on Mrs. Williams’ remarkable work before visiting our curated bloom bar to assemble a custom bouquet to take home. Dr. Irma McClaurin will serve as MC, providing insight into the deep cultural significance of the traditions being honored.

They invite you to arrive in your most expressive headwear to fully embody your own “Hatitude.” Prizes will be awarded for Best Hats, celebrating creativity, elegance, and individuality.
