This is a tactile, hands-on class where students explore identity by designing their own collage using textured papers and eclectic images. Students will be introduced to various portraits created by known painters and photographers, and learn that a portrait should reflect the world of the sitter and the times and places in which they lived. Later, they will work in a team of two to interview each other, use the iPhone and drawings to brainstorm, and finally, create a personal expressive collage portrait of a student friend.
