Join MMofA for a hands-on Family Day from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, packed with activities for all ages, all inspired by the exhibition Louise Nevelson: Dawn to Dusk.
Free Community Activities (All Ages) Community Sculpture Trail Project: Participate in an outdoor, collaborative sculpture activity. Guests will follow a Scavenger Hunt along our sculpture trail, collecting found natural materials to bring back and attach to a central, evolving artwork.
Ballet Performance & Breakaway Dance: Enjoy captivating performances by the Classical Ballet of Mobile, featuring an interactive breakaway dance session perfect for little ones (ages 2 and up).
Low-Cost Workshops (Registration Required) Family Assemblage Lab: Join this low-cost, hands-on class to design your own monochromatic assemblage. Using a variety of recyclable materials, you will create a small-scale structure and unify it by painting the entire piece in Nevelson’s signature all-black style.
Simulated Bronze Pendant Workshop (Pre-Registration ONLY): Register in advance for this unique, low-cost workshop. You will learn the art of basic metalsmithing, including forming, patterning, and drilling metal, and attaching embellishments to create a wearable jewelry pendant inspired by Nevelson’s practice of gifting monochromatic, sculptural jewelry. Registration for this workshop closes 24 hours prior to the event.
