MMofA: Saturday Studio Workshops for Kids

Students ages 5+ are invited to MMofA’s Saturday Studio Workshops for kids. On select Saturdays join them in their education classrooms to explore materials, make connections, and create using a wide variety of artistic materials and processes. Each artist will guide participants through concept to completion, taking home an original artwork inspired by museum collections.
Two Sessions Available
OCTOBER 4 – DIVING INTO THE MAGICAL OCEAN | Session 1: 10 am – 12 pm
Diving into the ocean of creativity by painting an underwater scene with non-traditional tools such as sponges and yarns. Students will also learn origami techniques to create fish and other sea creatures and add them to their magical ocean scene.
OCTOBER 4 – WOODEN ASSEMBLAGE WITH MAGEN PIERCE | Session 2 – 12pm – 2pm
This class will encourage an intuitive approach to sculpture, through exploration of using natural resources that Mobile Bay has to offer. Students will get to pick from a wide range of different shaped drift wood. Using different colored string, the students will learn to collage and construct the drift wood into abstract hanging sculptures.
