Students ages 5+ are invited to MMofA’s Saturday Studio Workshops for kids. On select Saturdays join them in their education classrooms to explore materials, make connections, and create using a wide variety of artistic materials and processes. Each artist will guide participants through concept to completion, taking home an original artwork inspired by museum collections.
Two Sessions Available
AUGUST 16 – SHADOW BOXES WITH LUCY GAFFORD | Session 1 – 10am – 12pm
Join Lucy Gafford in designing and crafting your own shadow boxes by transforming layered materials into stunning 3D masterpieces. You will learn how to bring your imaginative ideas to life and create keepsakes to treasure forever. Students are encouraged to bring keepsakes to include in their box. Ages5+.
AUGUST 16 – CHARACTER DESIGN WITH BRANDIN STALLWORTH | Session 2 – 12pm – 2pm
Students ages 5+ will explore drawing materials as they study the art of character design with local artist Brandin Stallworth. Learn how to draw and create comics and cartoons. This class will focus on the construction of characters to tell a story. This is a fun and collaborative class where students learn to share and develop their ideas.
