Students ages 5+ are invited to MMofA’s Saturday Studio Workshops for kids. On select Saturdays, join them in their education classrooms to explore materials, make connections, and create using a wide variety of artistic materials and processes.

Each Saturday offers students aged 5+ opportunities to explore art materials and processes in a variety of 2-hour workshops meant to be accessible for every learner. Each artist will guide participants through the concept to completion, taking home an original artwork inspired by museum collections.

April 4 –  Found Object Sculpture — Assembling with Shadow and Form | Session 1: 10am – 12pm
Cost: $20 – Members / $30 – Not-Yet Members

Inspired by the work of Louis Nevelson, participants will explore the art of assemblage using found wood, recycled materials, and objects that might otherwise be overlooked.
Through composition, texture, and monochromatic finishes, students will transform discarded materials into unified sculptural forms that play with light and shadow. All materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring small found items that hold personal meaning.
