Our Land: Outta da Horse’s Mouth! is a dramedy that follows a young Mabel Dennison, granddaughter to Lottie “Kanko” Dennison, one of the 110 Clotilda survivors and South Carolina born boat pilot, former slave, James Dennison. In the play, she shares the history about her grandmother’s journey from Dahomey to her and her husband’s contributions as skilled entrepreneurs. Her knowledge evokes the grandparents into her storytelling with a historical blended, folksy humor and interaction with the audience.
