Plan a day of summertime fun for the family! Learn about the wildlife and ecology of the Gulf Coast from a variety of environmental organizations throughout the region during Kids Gulf Discovery Day on Wednesday, June 12, at Bellingrath Gardens and Home.

Take a cruise on Fowl River with WildNative Delta Safaris! Our friends from WildNative Delta Safaris will conduct four guided cruises on Fowl River during the day. WildNative operates out of Five Rivers Delta Resrouce Center on the mouth of Mobile Bay. The company is coastal Alabama’s leading tour operator and only Delta specialist. The 45-minute cruises in and out of Bellingrath Gardens’ Riverfront Pavilion will focus on the biodiversity of the Fowl River. (Please note: Cruises are dependent on the weather.) Reservations are required for each cruise. Cruise times are 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Call 251.459.8864 to make your reservation.

See the Environmental Studies Center’s Raptor Road Show on the Great Lawn! The Raptor Road Show features native birds of prey that have been rescued and rehabilitated at the ESC, a natural sciences education facility owned by the Mobile County Public School System. The Raptor Road Show will engage and educate audiences about the behavior of red-tailed hawks, American kestrels, screech owls, barred owls, great horned owls, Mississippi kites, and ospreys. Questions are encouraged! Raptor Road Show Times are 9:15, 10:15 and 11:15 a.m.

Discover the critters of Mobile Bay with the Dauphin Island Sea Lab! The Dauphin Island Sea Lab will set up their Discovery Hall touch tables during Kids Gulf Discovery Day. The displays are a great chance for budding marine biologists to learn about what swims and crawls in the Gulf of Mexico and on the Gulf Coast shores.
