A prime mover in the West Coast jazz “fusion revolution,” the five-time Grammy- winning musician gleefully jumps from jazz to fusion to funk to rock. “I’ve always been a musical gumbo,” said George Duke, keyboard pioneer, composer, singer-songwriter and record producer.
Duke’s gumbo bowl of music style will be performed by The Cedric Brooks Project featuring Shawn Wright (trumpet), Carlos Vizoso (saxophone), Nya (guitar), Cory Johnson (bass), Steve Jacobs (drums), Mac McGee & Shelley Brown (vocals) and Brooks (keyboard) at MOJO’s January Jazz Jambalaya. Admission includes a light jambalaya dinner.
