Join author Carrie Dalby at the Conde-Charlotte Museum Friday, April 7 at 5pm, as she leads a journey into Mobile’s colorful past to discover the facts that inspire her historical fiction set in the Mobile Bay area during the Gilded Age/Edwardian Era. The splendor of Mardi Gras, high fashion, and progressive architecture mix with disasters, disease, and strict societal regulations that ruled life more than a century ago in the Port City.

The Mobile resident since 1996 writes primarily in the historic Southern Gothic genre. Fortitude, a teen novel, is listed as a “Best History Book for Kids” by Grateful American Foundation. Her two main bodies of work for adults are The Possession Chronicles and The Malevolent Trilogy, a family saga series set in the Mobile Bay area in the 1890s-1920s.

Carrie has published more than a dozen novels, numerous short stories in various anthologies, and several non-fiction articles in international magazines. Part of her volunteer work includes having served two terms as president of Mobile Writers Guild, five years as the Mobile Bay area local liaison for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and helping to coordinate the Mobile Literary Festival.
