Join us in the Meeting Room and hear Pulitzer Prize-winner Cynthia Tucker and award-winning author Frye Gaillard discuss their new book, “The Southernization of America: A Story of Democracy in the Balance.” In 1974 John Egerton published his seminal work, “The Americanization of Dixie.” Gaillard and Tucker, who are colleagues and frequent collaborators at the University of South Alabama, carry Egerton’s thesis forward with a compelling series of linked essays that consider the role of the South in shaping America’s current political and cultural landscape.
After their talk, there will be a question and answer session, followed by a book signing. Light refreshments will be served, and copies of the book will be available for sale at the event, brought to you by The Haunted Book Shop.
