In partnership with the Mobile County Remembrance Project (MCRP), Alabama Contemporary Art Center (ACAC) began in 2021 mounting storytelling pop-up events taking place in 6-month intervals for the purpose of gathering and documenting the oral history and lived experience of lynching sites, identified by the Equal Justice Initiative, in Mobile. These information-gathering events will contribute to the overall body of research eventually to be preserved in the African American History Archive of Mobile, and also provided to artists as a research base for the creation of new work to be mounted at Alabama Contemporary.
This show will be on display from April 14, 2023 – July 30, 2023.
