Join MMoA in the studio on select Saturdays to explore materials, make connections, and create using a wide variety of artistic materials and processes. Each Saturday offers students aged 16+ opportunities to explore art materials and processes in a variety of 4-hour workshops meant to be accessible if you are a beginner, as well as offer ample time for growth if you’re not so new to the process. Each artist will guide participants through the concept to completion, taking home an original artwork inspired by museum collections.
June’s Workshop will be The Joy of Nature Journaling. How to observe nature? How to remember what you observe? In this class, students will receive a journal that focuses on their environment, and become explorer artists. They will catch clouds, listen to the language of birds, return to the same spots to observe changes, and go for a “color walk’. Using words, maps, drawings, photos, and a wide variety of artistic tools and methods, students will create a deep connection with nature, art, and themselves. They will be able to continue their creative projects in the future, as they bring their journal home.
