Africatown Heritage House is hosting its March 2026 Heritage Lecture Series event, a collection of speeches designed to touch on topics related to the Black experience, on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 5:30pm.
ABOUT THE LECTURE: The March/Women’s History Month lecture will feature Miss Juneteenth Pageant 2025 Queens Victoria Howell and Savannah Jones, who will shine a light on women who have broken down barriers through their innovation and leadership. This Africatown Heritage Lecture Series speech will delve into the lives of women whose stories may not be widely known but their legacy deserves the spotlight. In addition to learning about historical African American women, parents will also learn more about the Miss Juneteenth Pageant and how their young queens can get involved.
ABOUT THE QUEENS: Savannah is a dedicated student, community leader, and future veterinarian. As a rising high school freshman in Mobile, Alabama, Savannah is passionate about education, service, and making a difference in her community. Victoria is a brilliant scholar, dedicated leader, and aspiring pediatric surgeon who is on a mission to make a difference in medicine and community advocacy. As a rising senior at Baker High School in Mobile, Alabama, she excels in academics, extracurricular activities, and service, all while preparing for a career that will positively impact children’s health and well-being.
