Mobile Museum of Art: Text as Texture for Kids (Ages 8+)

How do our eyes “travel” through an image? What if there were no color to help mark the way? How do repetition and inversion become a composition? Students will learn how an artist can attract and lead the eye across and through a designed image. They will create a black-and-white collage from magazine cuts of words, using text in such a way that it loses its identity as words. Their work will present a textural image that displays whimsical movement, contrast, and rhythm.
