September Artist Member of the Month Jenyes
Congratulations to our September Artist Member of the Month Jenyes!
You may recognize this artist name since he took home the second-place award in this year’s Members’ Show, but we encourage you to take a second and get to know local artist JENYES.
“I began painting around the age of eight or nine, inspired by my mother, who was an artist herself. One day she handed me a fisherman’s tackle box filled with oil paints, and before leaving, she pulled out a sheet of paper. She scribbled in the center, and as I tried to make sense of it, she began adding petals around the lines. Suddenly, that scribble became a rose. I was mind-blown. From that moment, I knew art had a special power—how do you take nothing and turn it into something? That moment was the spark that set me on this path.
What fuels me most is storytelling. I love how art can take a viewer on a journey—how it sparks different emotions, thoughts, and interpretations depending on who you are and what you bring to it. For me, it’s about creating pieces that open a dialogue, that allow people to see something entirely different from the person standing next to them. That anticipation of reaction, that exchange, keeps me creating piece after piece.
Now, at 35, I see the world with more depth, and I want my art to reflect power, brilliance, resilience, and truth. As a child, people called me “Pikasso,” and I carried that name with me into my music. But stepping back into the art world, I’ve embraced the name “JENYES”—a name I often heard growing up, almost like a calling. It feels like a full-circle moment, one that ties together my past, my music, and my return to the canvas.
Through my work, I want to remind people of what’s possible: that art can be more than a picture on a wall—it can be an experience, a reflection, and a force.”
