Mobile Opera’s first performance of the 2020-2021 Intermezzo Season, Coffee Cantata, will premier live on Facebook and YouTube on October 24, 2020 at 7:30pm.
This performance will feature Mollie Adams, Thomas Rowell, Patrick Jacobs and Eric Andries and will be filmed at Chaleur Coffee. J.S. Bach’s Coffee Cantata, is the story of a coffee shop owner named Schlendrian (“stick in the mud”) who engages in a battle of wills with his daughter, Lieschen, to get her to quit drinking coffee. Like daughters everywhere, she finds a way to let dad “win” while still getting her own way. Thomas Rowell sings the role of our Narrator. Schlendrian will be played by Patrick Jacobs and the daughter, Lieschen, will be sung by Mollie Adams. Our pianist is Eric Andries and Stacey Driskell helps set the stage at our modern, real life coffee house, Chaleur Coffee
