Understated Elegance
Dates: September 1-30, 2016
The local Shibui Chapter of the Sumi-e Society of America will be displaying their ink and watercolor paintings in the Skinny Gallery in their exhibition titled “Understated Elegance”. The Sumi-e Society is dedicated to sharing their love and knowledge of ink painting in the Asian style. Sumi, the Japanese work for ink, is the basic medium for our artwork. Watercolor is often incorporated in many paintings. The primary support is rice paper. The artwork is more about revealing the “essence” of the subject rather than an exact representation. The group’s exhibit will be on display at MAC during the month of September in the Skinny Gallery. Meet the artists on ArtWalk night, September 9th, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. The gallery will be open from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM on weekdays.
