Family

Dates: September 1-30, 2016

This month in the Danielle Juzan Gallery, Artist E. Allen Warren will be exhibiting “Family,” a year’s worth of painted pet portraits. Over the course of twenty or more years as a freelance artist, Warren has been tasked with creating murals, signage, kids rooms, album covers, portraits, scenic backdrops, Mardi Gras floats, theater props, etc. Until September of 2015, he’d only painted one commissioned pet portrait. According to Warren, “Last year I decided to paint my cat, Missy. She was killed by dogs in 2003 and I wanted to pay homage. She survived one attack by seven Standard Poodles only to be killed a year later by three Malamutes. It literally took ten dogs to kill my cat because she only had nine lives.” After that, he began painting more pets. Warren hung some of his animal art in a vet’s office, and then steadily began selling them and getting pet portrait commissions. He says, “I am now privileged and honored to portray members of families everywhere. At times I am entrusted with portraying the memory of a loved one from long ago. I do my best to capture the essence.” Warren’s exhibit will be on display at MAC during the month of September in the Danielle Juzan Gallery. Meet the artist on ArtWalk night, September 9th, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. The gallery will be open from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM on weekdays.
