The Artys is Mobile’s only awards program that acknowledges the priceless contributions made to the arts and cultural community across all realms of the arts. For eighteen years, Mobile Arts Council has presented these awards to recognize the creative achievements of individuals, organizations, and businesses. Each year members of the community submit nominations, which are then narrowed down to a winner in each category by a panel of arts professionals.
This year, the arts organization is honoring Nadine Andrews, Christy LeGros, City of Mobile Parks & Recreation, Showbiz Theatrical Services, Nat Johnson, The PACT Theatre Company, Steve Joynt (Mobile Mask), Symone French, Mobile Botanical Gardens, Michael Smith & Karen Carr, Nancy Goodman, and Eva Golson. This year’s Arty awards, which are always an original work of art, were created by local glassblowers, Muffinjaw Designs.
The event is set to take place on April 6th, 2023 at Soul Kitchen in Downtown Mobile. Tickets are now available for $50 in advance and will be $65 at the door. The 18th annual awards show will feature a cash bar and live performances by local musicians, dance companies, and theatres, with pre-ceremony entertainment by Disco Lemonade.
We are still accepting nominations for “The Final Curtain” to the 18th Annual Artys awards ceremony. This segment of the event will acknowledge and honor the individuals who have recently passed away (2022-present) but played a role in impacting the arts and cultural community in Mobile.
