November Organization Member of the Month
Congratulations to our November Organization Member of the Month, Watercolor & Graphic Arts Society of Mobile!
The Watercolor & Graphic Arts Society of Mobile is one of the oldest arts organizations in the state of Alabama. It began on June 5, 1948, as simply “Watercolor Society of Mobile” as an outgrowth of the Bayou Painters group. Some of the original members were Genevieve Southerland, Edmond de Celle and Bea Tucker. Many well-known and respected artists have been members since then.
The Society typically has two shows a year and presently their fall show is at the Eichold Gallery on the Spring Hill College campus. View this special body of work and joint exhibition with Mobile Art Association through December 10th.

We’d also like to take a moment to share some information about one of WGAS longtime beloved members, Lynda Smith Touart. She suffered a very difficult accident this past summer, permanently paralyzing her from the waist down. Although she and her dear husband’s life have been greatly altered by this accident, they continue to amaze those around them with their lighthearted attitudes and dedication to one another.
If you would like to donate to aid Lynda in her recovery, please click here. Anything you can give would be enormously appreciated by this stellar couple. Thank you for your consideration in helping some important members of our cherished Arts Community.
This awesome organization is so worthy of this recognition.
