JAWSfest YOUTH: STUDENT ART NEEDED

Have you heard of JAWS fest?

The Jazz-Art-Writers-South Festival is a two-month long celebration of music, art, and culture at the University of South Alabama. Hosted by the South Alabama University Libraries department, this festival brings jazz concerts, art galleries, and more to the South Alabama and Mobile communities. The first JAWS Festival was hosted in summer 2022 and has expanded since.

JAWS Youth programming runs in conjunction with JAWS fest, giving students under the age of 18 the opportunity to show their artwork in a professional setting while learning about the cherished history of jazz. It is brought together in partnership with Mobile Arts Council, Amp Up Arts, The University of South Alabama, and The Black Ink Coalition.

If you know a student under the age of 18 who is interested in showing their artwork in a professional gallery setting, click this link to apply to be part of this year’s JAWS fest! Artist materials will be provided. Applications close on January 17th! Contact kat@mobilearts.org with any questions.
