Congratulations to our February Organization Member of the Month, Mobile Museum of Art!

Since its founding in 1963 as a public/private entity then known as the “Mobile Art Gallery,” the art museum has evolved into the only accredited art museum in south Alabama, with a collection of over 6,400 artworks comprised of painting, sculpture, decorative arts, works on paper, and crafts.

With their mission to educate, engage, and enrich through the arts, MMofA continues to evolve in its service to the community, achieved through its programs, education, exhibitions and outreach. The museum’s outreach activities include on-site classes, a partnership with the Salvation Army’s Family Haven, as well as a “Pop-Up Museum” installation in downtown Mobile. The Art Museum maintains a schedule of rotating, special exhibitions as well as collection exhibitions, including work by regional artists as well as exhibitions featuring work by nationally and internationally recognized artists.

Mobile Arts Council is pleased to be partnering with MMofA and Alabama Contemporary Art Center for Mobile’s Inaugural ArtSocial happening Thursday, February 22nd! Our 3 Mobile arts organizations are coming together to present the first of a new quarterly arts networking series. We’ll have drinks by donation, conversational games, membership giveaways, and a brief presentation and discussion with our host organizations. This free opportunity to mix and mingle with your fellow creatives is open to all artists, art workers, collectors, and arts enthusiasts, and will rotate each quarter between the host organizations.

2024 ArtSocial dates include:
Feb 22, 5:30 – 7pm @ Mobile Arts Council
May 23, 6 – 7:30pm @ Mobile Museum of Art
