MPL: 2018 Young Author’s Conference

Children’s author, Jerry Pallotta will be the keynote speaker for the 2018 Young Authors’ Conference. Mr. Pallotta is an award-winning author of children's alphabet books and imaginative fiction and non-fiction, including The Icky Bug Alphabet Book; The Construction Alphabet Book; Who Will Win Book series, which include Komodo Dragon Vs. King Cobra, as well as many other books. Mr. Pallotta loves writing books and visiting schools all over the United States. He lives in Boston, Massachusetts. Following Mr. Pallotta’s presentation, students in grades 2-5 will break into small groups and participate in a variety of writing activities.

MMofA: do it

do it began in Paris in 1993 as a conversation between curator Hans Ulrich Obrist and artists Christian Boltanski and Bertrand Lavier. They were curious to see what would happen if they started an exhibition that could constantly generate new versions of itself. To test the idea, they invited 12 artists to propose artworks based on written “scores” or instructions that can be openly interpreted every time they are presented. The instructions were then translated into 9 different languages and circulated internationally as a book.

MMofA: Intermediate Throwing on the Pottery Wheel with Angie King

Build on basic pottery wheel skills in this eight-week intermediate class. Participants will learn to refine their forms, throw larger pieces, and create more complex forms such as lidded jars. Students registering for Intermediate Throwing on the Pottery Wheel must have prior wheel throwing experience and the ability to center by themselves.
