Capturing the Natural World (Watercolor Class W/ Lisa Hancock)

Come join us at Marnée's Studio (2353 Airport Blvd, Mobile, AL 36606) to learn unique and fabulous watercolor methods from the very talented Lisa Hancock! This watercolor class is for adult beginners to intermediate students ages 16+. It is helpful if the student has a basic understanding of drawing techniques and composition, but not necessary. The natural world has been a source of inspiration for artists over the centuries. Students will learn basic color theory and watercolor techniques using landscape works of art and Audubon collections as sources of inspiration, to better understand the connection between art and nature. Students will then use these resources to create their own works of art. Demonstrations are given during each class meeting, as needed. The students are able to paint with the instructor and apply what they have learned to create a painting from a photographic reference. REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN ON January 2nd and END on January 19th. Cancellations made at least 72 hours in advance will receive a 100% refund. Class fee must be paid in full (either online or in studio) to be registered. We need at least 4 students to run this class. If the minimum is not met, cancellation emails will be sent 72 hours in advance. Please call 318-564-4634 or email info@marneestudio.com for questions. MMofA: do it

do it began in Paris in 1993 as a conversation between curator Hans Ulrich Obrist and artists Christian Boltanski and Bertrand Lavier. They were curious to see what would happen if they started an exhibition that could constantly generate new versions of itself. To test the idea, they invited 12 artists to propose artworks based on written “scores” or instructions that can be openly interpreted every time they are presented. The instructions were then translated into 9 different languages and circulated internationally as a book.

Location: Mobile Museum of Art
