MMofA: Intro to Zentangle

Need to find a way to focus your busy life? Join Yuko Jordan as she teaches mindfulness through the art of Zentangle® in this introductory workshop. This meditative practice will help even the most inexperienced artist learn to create through drawing exercises that focus the mind and encourage creative problem solving. Students 13 years and older are welcome to register. Basic Zentangle® supply kit is included in registration fee.

From the same group that brought the recent Reptiles: Scales & Tales event. We are pleased to announce another show called Animal Architects with a whole new set of friendly critters. Architecture. Design. Excavating. Construction. All are performed on a regular basis in nature. Animal Architects will feature a variety of exotic animals from across the globe that utilize very unique abilities to build and construct as part of survival in the wild. Be prepared to get up-close and personal learning about these very constructive critters. Showtimes: 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Break 1:30 p.m. 2:30 p.m. Only $10 general admission and FREE for members!

Historic Oakleigh House: Summer Lawn Party

On Saturday, July 15th, the Historic Oakleigh House Museum in downtown Mobile, Alabama is hosting a summer lawn party on its historic grounds community. Oakleigh's Summer Lawn Party is an all ages event with food, fun, and entertainment for everyone. There will be outdoor games, activities, and crafts for kids, and a beer and wine bar, outdoor art show, and exclusive Antique Interiors Art History Tour of the house museum for adults. Contact the museum for tickets or purchase the day of the event. Please bring valid ID! Artists interested in participating in the art show should contact the museum to register, space is limited. USA Music: Piano Camp

We are excited to offer this workshop to pianists age 11 through adult. The camp will focus on the music of Frédéric Chopin. Daily classes will focus on technique, theory, form and literature. Students will take mini-lessons and master classes with nationally renowned experts and USA piano faculty.

Students should bring 1 or 2 piano pieces to study during the workshop. Pieces by Chopin are recommended but not required.

Registered students may perform at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15th, at the Student Recital in the Laidlaw Recital Hall.

ART BLAST SUMMER ART CAMP at MMofA

Art Blast Summer Art Camp registration is now open! With classes for 4-7 year olds, 8-11 year olds and 12 and up, there is truly something for everyone in the wide variety of art offered throughout the summer. Ceramics, painting, and drawing in all styles inspire students to energize their creativity, while learning about elements of art and art history.  The camp will run from June 12th through July 28th.

July Exhibitions at MAC

This month, MAC will feature "Inner Transcendence," a new watercolor series by Lisa Hancock, in the Danielle Juzan Gallery; automotive photography by Kathleen Cope in the Skinny Gallery; and animal paintings and prints by Eliza Coral in the Small Room. Meet the artists during ArtWalk on Friday, July 14 (6 - 9 PM). Exhibition open weekdays from 9 AM - 5 PM throughout July.
