Baker High School: Summer Jungle Drama Camp

Sunny Side Drama: Super Summer Drama Camp: 3rd Grade and up!

Each two-week camp ends with a full-length play. All campers have lines, costumes, get to help with set painting, play games, and learn about acting and singing!

Not only do we prepare for the show but we have fun playing water games, doing crazy hair day, learning about acting, and painting sets!

MPL: Bad Art Afternoon

We provide the art supplies and you create the art! Participants are given 40 minutes to make a sculpture, painting, book or whatever kind of artwork you choose to create. An exhibition of Bad Art will then be displayed and voted on by the participants and staff. MMofA: Film Series - Exit through the Gift Shop

In this MMofA film series, join us for a movie night meant to get your creative juices pumping. On Tuesday nights through the summer we will be screening Artist biopics and documentaries featuring some of the greats. Admission is pay what you can. Show starts at 6 p.m. Free popcorn. Beer and wine by donation. 7/13 – Exit Through the Gift Shop The story of how an eccentric French shop-keeper and amateur film-maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner. The film contains footage of Banksy, Shephard Fairey, Invader and many of the world’s most infamous graffiti artists at work.

USA: Piano Camp Faculty Recital

Dr. Robert Auler will perform the last of four Piano Camp Faculty Recitals on Thursday, July 13 at 3:00 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.  The emphasis of this year's piano camp is Romanticism and the Music of Frederic Chopin, hence Dr. Auler's program will feature Chopin's Sonata No. 2, Fantasy, Nocturnes in B-flat minor, E-flat and B, and the Ballades Nos. 2 and 3.

Tickets for this Department of Music event will be sold at the door only.  General admission is $5 for all attendees other than Piano Camp participants.

USA Music: Piano Camp

We are excited to offer this workshop to pianists age 11 through adult. The camp will focus on the music of Frédéric Chopin. Daily classes will focus on technique, theory, form and literature. Students will take mini-lessons and master classes with nationally renowned experts and USA piano faculty.

Students should bring 1 or 2 piano pieces to study during the workshop. Pieces by Chopin are recommended but not required.

Registered students may perform at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15th, at the Student Recital in the Laidlaw Recital Hall.

MMofA:  Art Talk - Rene Culler

Rene Culler’s new site-specific work The Mobile Delta: Glass and Light is a mural in glass that celebrates the species-rich Delta and its atmospheric qualities. For this talk, Culler will discuss how her piece was made as well as the themes of a changing environment, constantly shaped and molded by weather and waterways.

Satsuma High School: Blast By The Bay

Music, band and dance enthusiasts: Come see three drum and bugle corps for FREE! Similar to a highly-competitive marching band, Southwind Drum & Bugle Corps from Mobile is bringing the music and pageantry of Drum Corps International to the area with a kickoff preview show, Blast By The Bay. The event will also feature Heat Wave (Inverness, Fla.) and Louisiana Stars (Fayette, La.). The event is free to the general public (donations will be gratefully accepted). ART BLAST SUMMER ART CAMP at MMofA

Art Blast Summer Art Camp registration is now open! With classes for 4-7 year olds, 8-11 year olds and 12 and up, there is truly something for everyone in the wide variety of art offered throughout the summer. Ceramics, painting, and drawing in all styles inspire students to energize their creativity, while learning about elements of art and art history.  The camp will run from June 12th through July 28th.

July Exhibitions at MAC

This month, MAC will feature "Inner Transcendence," a new watercolor series by Lisa Hancock, in the Danielle Juzan Gallery; automotive photography by Kathleen Cope in the Skinny Gallery; and animal paintings and prints by Eliza Coral in the Small Room. Meet the artists during ArtWalk on Friday, July 14 (6 - 9 PM). Exhibition open weekdays from 9 AM - 5 PM throughout July.
