Spring Tea at the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion

The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion is hosting their annual Spring Tea fundraiser. Guests are invited to enjoy delicious treats, tea and an informal look at one of Mobile’s most iconic antebellum homes. Muscle Shoals Swampers featuring Jimmy Hall and Donna Hall of Wet Willie

The Muscle Shoals Swampers featuring Jimmy Hall & Donna Hall of Wet Willie will perform in concert at 7pm at Bayside Academy (on the Bluff) 303 Dryer Avenue, Daphne, AL 36526. Ticket prices are just $10 for seniors and students and $15 for adults and can be purchased here. Join Alabama's Heroes of music as the world famous Muscle Shoals Swampers are joined by Mobile's own Jimmy and Donna Hall of Wet Willie fame for a once in a lifetime concert event of legends. Ticket sales will benefit the arts program at the (K-12) Bayside Academy. Celebrated in the critically acclaimed documentary "Muscle Shoals" the Swampers have played on an astonishing list of hits from the last half century working with Aretha Franklin, the Rolling Stones, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Cher, Rod Stewart, the Staple Singers, Etta James, Bob Dylan and countless others. Jimmy and Donna Hall of Wet Willie formed Mobile's most historically accomplished band helping to cement the Capricorn Records Southern Rock movement of the 1970's with such hits as Keep on Smilin', Grits Ain't Groceries, Dixie Rock, Street Corner Serenade, Weekend, and many other Top 100 tunes. Jimmy Hall is known worldwide as a blues power house and the lead vocalist of Rock and Roll Icon Jeff Beck's touring band.

THE MOBILE DELTA: Glass & Light

Rene Culler’s site-specific work is a mural in glass that celebrates the species-rich Delta and its atmospheric qualities. The Delta is a changeling environment which is constantly shaped and molded by the weather and waterways. As the grasses, almost transparent, catch the light, Culler’s drawings and painting in glass suggest the landscape that southern Alabama holds so dear. The composition is a wall of natural light utilized as a glass canvas for drawing, painting and printing with vitreous enamels. Slumped dimensional panels and blown glass abstractly portray the location’s dimensionality.
