Snowbird Special at Bellingrath Gardens and Home

Save on Gardens-and-Home combination tickets with Bellingrath’s Snowbird Special, a discount for all ages in January and February. With the Snowbird Special, an adult Gardens-and-Home ticket costs $16.50 (regular price: $21) and a child Gardens-and-Home ticket costs $11.50 (regular price: $13). There is no admission fee for members of the Friends of Bellingrath, or for ages 4 and younger. The Gardens open at 8 a.m. and the last Home tour of the day is at 4 p.m. For details, visit bellingrath.org.

The Dance Academy of Mobile: Ballet II-III

Studio A- Ages 9-12. Ballet technique is the basis for modern, tap, jazz, and hip hop. Ballet is vital to the performance quality of all dance forms. Class will focus on ballet steps, technique,terminology, musicality, and combinations. Class will build awareness ofproper alignment, muscle control and injury prevention.  Students will also learn problem solving skills, listening skills, how to follow directions, work with other students and begin to build self esteem and self discipline. Ballet also conditions the body and builds stamina, strength and flexibility. Each level will have specific guidelines as to what terminolgy will be learned, with the higher levels becoming more complex and challenging.

Night of the Classical Masters

Night of the Classical Masters, location to be determined. University of Mobile Chorale and Symphony performs “Requiem” by Maurice Duruflé, Opus 9. Directed by Dr. Al Miller, dean of The Roger Breland School of Music and the School of Worship Leadership, and guest conductor Dr. Scott Wright, general director of Mobile Opera. This is a free event; a freewill love offering may be taken.

Alabama School of the Arts Presents ‘Night of the Classical Masters

The Alabama School of the Arts String Orchestra under the direction of professional violinist Enen Yu will open the program. The Symphonic Winds will perform Mozart’s Symphony No. 35, also known as the Haffner Symphony. Finally, the Chorale Ensemble will perform the Requiem by British composer John Rutter. The program is under the direction of Dr. Al Miller, dean of the Alabama School of the Arts, and Dr. Scott Wright, general director of Mobile Opera.
